Last month, Leo joined the school radio club with his friends Nina and Sam. Their teacher, Miss Lee, gave each of them a job. Nina had to write the news. Sam had to choose the music. Leo had to read the news to the whole school on Friday morning. Leo was terrified. He was a shy boy and his voice was like a small mouse. 'What if I make a mistake?' he asked. Nina smiled. 'Let's practise after lunch every day,' she said. 'This will make you feel better.' On Friday morning, Leo sat in front of the microphone. His heart was beating like a drum. Beep! The red light came on. Leo took a deep breath and began to read. Halfway through, his paper slipped and fell to the floor. Leo froze. For a moment, there was no sound at all. 'Keep going. You can do it!' Sam whispered as he picked up the paper. Leo nodded and finished the news. After the show, Leo walked back to his classroom. Everyone clapped and Miss Lee gave him a big smile. 'You sounded very clear today,' she said. Leo felt as light as a feather. The next week, he asked to read the news again.
