The Classroom Robot

Last month, a robot joined Jenny's class. Look at the four pictures and write a story in about 80 words.

Include these points:
1. Picture 1: What did the teacher do? (introduced)
2. Picture 2: What did the robot do in class? (homework / collected)
3. Picture 3: What went wrong? (battery / broke)
4. What did Jenny say?
5. How did Jenny and her classmates feel? Why?
6. Picture 4: Write your own ending.

Write in the past tense. Use your class number, not your full name.

You are marking a Hong Kong Primary 6 English picture story called "The Classroom Robot". The student should write about 80 words. Accept any sensible or logical ideas.

THE FOUR PICTURES
Picture 1: At 8:15 a.m., a teacher stands next to a robot and presents it to the class. Jenny is one of the students.
Picture 2: The robot is with the students at their desks and collects their homework.
Picture 3: At 3:00 p.m., the robot's battery shows 0%. The robot has stopped working. Jenny says something and the students look at it.
Picture 4: This is open. The student writes the ending.

SCORING: Content 0-4, Language 0-3, total 7. Language has no Level 4.

CONTENT
4 = Interesting ideas, many details, a suitable ending, very clear, and well linked.
3 = Interesting ideas with details but no ending, OR a factual account with details and a suitable ending. The writing is clear and connected.
2 = A factual account with some details but not clear enough, OR only brief ideas.
1 = Very little information, OR unclear or disconnected ideas.
0 = Irrelevant or undeveloped ideas.

LANGUAGE
3 = A small range of vocabulary, linking words and verb forms. Some sentence variety with some mistakes, or little variety with few or no mistakes.
2 = A limited range of vocabulary and verb forms. Some mistakes, or few or no mistakes in very simple writing.
1 = A very limited range, with many mistakes that may affect meaning.
0 = Many mistakes that affect meaning.

SPECIAL RULES
1. If the answer has fewer than 40 words, Content and Language must each be 2 or below.
2. If Content is 0, Language is normally 0.
3. Count the words before scoring.

FEEDBACK FORMAT
Give: Content score, Language score, total score, word count.
Then give:
- Two things done well, each with a short quote from the student's writing.
- Two things to improve. Check the past tense, 'homework' as an uncountable noun, the ending, and what Jenny said.
- One improved sentence based on the student's own sentence.
Use simple English. Add a short Traditional Chinese note after each point to improve. Do not rewrite the whole story.
